Answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, email tryrerun@gmail.com — a real person reads it.
Getting started
- How do I sign up? Create an account with an email, username, and password. You'll need to verify your email before some features (posting, commenting) unlock.
- I forgot my password. Use the password reset page — it emails a reset link to the address on your account.
- Can I change my username? Not right now — usernames are permanent once you sign up, since your profile URL is built from it and other people may already be linking to it.
Your profile
- How do I customize my profile? Head to Edit Profile — display name, mood, about me, a profile photo, a profile song, and your Top 8. For visual customization, the Layouts page has starter CSS presets you can apply as-is or edit by hand.
- Who can see my profile? Set your overall profile visibility (public or friends-only) in Edit Profile. Several individual fields — age, city, relationship status, birthday — have their own separate visibility control too, so you can keep a public profile while still keeping specific details members-only or friends-only.
- What's Top 8? A curated, ordered list of up to 8 friends shown on your profile — deliberately small and explicit, not a followers count. Manage it from Edit Profile.
- What's an Inner Circle? A private subset of your friends you can choose as the audience for a specific bulletin or blog post, in addition to the usual "any member" / "friends only" choices. Unlike Top 8, Inner Circle membership is never shown to anyone — including the people on it.
Posting
- Bulletins vs. blog posts? Bulletins are short, broadcast-style posts that show up in your friends' feed and the site-wide Bulletin Board. Blog posts are longer-form entries that live on your own profile's Blog tab. Both can be saved as a draft first and published later.
- Can I edit a post after publishing? Yes — comments, bulletins, and blog posts can all be edited by their author, and show an "(edited)" marker once changed.
- I sent a message by mistake. You have 60 seconds after sending a direct message to retract it — look for "undo" next to the message. After that, there's no way to unsend it.
- What's the weekly digest? A short, optional summary bulletin posted to your own wall once a week, recapping what happened on the site while you were away — no call to action, nothing you need to act on.
Friends & messaging
- How do group message threads work? Any thread member can add a friend of theirs; anyone can leave at any time. There are no typing indicators, read receipts, or "seen by" lists in any messaging on Rerun — on purpose.
- Someone's bothering me — what can I do? Block them from their profile page, and report the specific post/comment/thread using the report link wherever it appears. Reports go to a real moderation queue.
Books
- What's the book shelf? A Goodreads-style shelf — mark books as currently reading, read, or want to read, and pin up to 8 favorites to your Top Shelf. A friend can "press" a book onto your want-to-read shelf as a recommendation.
